5 ways to motivate yourself to exercise

dumbbells-2465478_1920There is this sense of contentment that comes after every work out which I believe sometimes is enough to motivate us to keep us going. Despite the fact that I trust motivation comes from within and the goal behind any activity we carry out, there will be some days when you feel like giving up due to some circumstances which could be laziness, weather conditions, or stress.

I am sure y’all can relate lol

There are a lot of benefits that come with working out. Working out can boost your confidence level, increase energy levels, reduce stress and improve your memory retention. Definitely, from the list above, working out is worth some attention in our life.

Below are some of the ways you can motivate yourself to work out

Know your WHY

It is a very important point to note out why you want to work out. There are so many reasons why people exercise, and it is really crucial you identify the reason why you started (whether it be to lose weight, keep fit or have a goal in terms of body size). Whenever you feel lazy, always remember the purpose behind this and the benefits you are getting from the workout.

Schedule your workout time the night before

Planning ahead is always good as it allows us to have things done at the end of the day. Have a schedule on your phone or journal and choose which days are favourable for you to work out by putting into consideration other factors which may be work or school related.

Get yourself a workout buddy

Working out with your friends can be so much fun and productive. You get the chance to spur one another. On those days when you feel like giving up, find yourself some buddies to get started. Myself I like to work out alone because that’s what I find okay for me but getting friends who can motivate you is always a plus.

Have a workout playlist

You can never go wrong with music. Music discharges pressure and influences you to be in the state of mind for the exercise. Plan ahead and select some good songs that set you ablaze to work out or make you want to sweat more. This has always been a good idea and it’s perfect.

Perform workouts that you like

If there are some workout exercises you don’t enjoy then locate the ones you like the most. This will motivate you to do more of these and keep you going. Even though sometimes, you might have to perform the ones you don’t like depending on the goals you have set for yourself, focus more on the ones you like.

Do you exercise? What do you do to keep you going?

Share your tips down in the comments.

Bonjour.

  2. These are great tips! I know that performing workouts that I like is one of the most important things to me. I personally hate cardio and love lifting. That little voice in my head is always telling me that I should do cardio instead. And then I end up giving up 5 minutes in. I’ve incorporated jump roping and lifting into a HIIT type workout that I do regularly. It makes the workout so much more enjoyable if you like what you’re doing! Exercise should not make you miserable!

You are so right. I have also incorporated jump roping in my workout and ooh God I am loving it as it sets me up to the next work out I want to do.
      Thank you for reading Alex😊🌹

It is indeed key to identify why you are doing it and the benefits that come with it.
Thank you Casey for the kind words and reading.😊🌹

  3. Great post! These are some really solid tips. I workout best when it’s a part of my daily routine. Not even thinking twice about needing to do it, because that’s just the way it is. When any doubt creeps in, that’s when I struggle and skip.

I also just signed up for a once-a-week fitness class that’s outside of my home. I usually do at-home workouts, so mixing it up for a specific class should be good for me too. Thanks for sharing!

Wow so this is so cool and motivating. I normally workout 3 times a week but I am also trying to have a daily routine.
Signing for a fitness class sounds fun and I am sure you’ll see great results.

  5. 100% for all these tips Carny! I’ve been trying to find a workout buddy for ages but can never find anyone who fits in into my schedule.
For me seeing consistent results, however big or small, and getting a feel-good factor of exercising is what keeps me motivated to work out. It shows me that I’m on the right track on whatever goals I wanna achieve.
